ITU is extremely strict in reviewing membership qualifications, and entrusts the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China to conduct reviews from multiple dimensions including standardization strength, company scale and nature, and work prospects. AsiaInfo submitted its membership application in December 2019. After a lot of reviews and communication, it finally passed the membership qualification review, which demonstrates the recognition of AsiaInfo’s technical strength by ITU and MIIT.

In the process of applying to join the ITU, AsiaInfo has already carried out related standardization work jointly with the CAICT, one of the full members of ITU. In the first half of 2020, the four standard proposals jointly submitted by AsiaInfo and China Telecom were all approved at the ITU-T SG2 meeting, and great technological breakthroughs have been made in the formulation of two standards, that is, "AI-based Telecom Operation and Maintenance Architecture” and “Smart Wireless Energy-saving Demand”.

The formal admission of ITU means that AsiaInfo will assume more responsibilities for technological innovation, be responsible for more standardization tasks, and work with telecom operators to formulate influential international standards on the next generation of OSS/BSS systems. AsiaInfo will make persistent efforts, exert its influence in standard research and development, technological innovation, and business practices, and strive to make more breakthroughs in 5G, AI, smart cities, blockchain, digital twins, and promoting the cloud and network use of enterprises, digital transformation, etc.
