Recently, in Beijing, the in-memory database project team of China Communications Standards Association - Big Data Technology Standards Promotion Committee (CCSA TC601) held its second meeting in China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. As China's largest product and service provider in operator software field and a key industry manufacturer of in-memory databases, AsiaInfo Technologies (stock code: 01675.HK) was invited to participate in the meeting. AsiaInfo's technical experts and authoritative experts from 13 top domestic technology companies including Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent and Huawei gathered together to discuss the preparation of the In-Memory Database Practice White Paper, so as to jointly promote the deep integration of big data and the real economy.

In-Memory Database Practice White Paper is expected to be released in the middle of the year

At the meeting, experts conducted in-depth discussions based on the first draft of the In-Memory Database Practice White Paper (the White Paper). AsiaInfo technical experts expressed unique insights for the functional requirements and business pain points of in-memory databases, and undertook part of the preparation work of the white paper. The White Paper elaborates on the definition, application scenarios, selection suggestions, technical requirements, implementation plans, maintenance plans, and technology evolution trends of in-memory databases, providing professional suggestions on database service selection for more enterprises and users. The White Paper is expected to be released at the Big Data Industry Summit 2019 on June 4 this year.

AsiaInfo is responsible for the preparation of some key elements of the White Paper, such as the core attributes of the in-memory database, database selection recommendations, technical requirements, and maintenance programs.

It is imperative to build a new generation of distributed relational in-memory database

In recent years, the demand for high-performance databases in various industries, such as e-commerce, telecommunications, finance, and social networking, has been increasingly growing. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and the commercialization of 5G technology, the requirements for high concurrence and high response of enterprise IT systems are getting higher and higher.

“In an era when data drive enterprises to create value, traditional disk-based relational databases can no longer meet the requirements of enterprises for high-performance, real-time, near-real-time data access, and all in memory in-memory databases have inherent advantages in performance. At the same time, with the increase of server memory capacity and memory hardware cost, the disk-based database will gradually migrate to the in-memory database, so it is imperative to build a new generation of distributed relational memory database.” said Cao Shengdong, a technical expert at AsiaInfo.

As an emerging database type, in-memory databases have not yet reached the maturity level of traditional databases, so it takes a lot of time to conduct research and exploration in order to achieve large-scale applications. AsiaInfo's technical experts will work together with other members of the project team to standardize products, improve technical requirements, establish test benchmarks, contribute to the development of in-memory database products in China, and promote the long-term development of in-memory database technologies.

AsiaInfo: Let enterprises take a step closer to data

As a recognized leader in software and related services, AsiaInfo has been committed to providing enterprise customers with the most advanced software services and technologies. It has nearly 20 years of experience in R&D and use of in-memory databases. Currently, AsiaInfo's in-memory database products have been widely used by operators at home and abroad, and are in a leading position in the field of relational in-memory databases.

Based on years of experience in R&D and use of distributed in-memory databases, AsiaInfo has created a highly available, high-performance distributed relational in-memory database, AISWare MDB (Memory Database), to provide enterprises with SQL-based data access services and pluggable expansion services, thus meeting future high-speed read and write requirements, and serving the digital business market with increasing demands.

AISWare MDB is a general-purpose, enterprise-class distributed relational in-memory database that uses a variety of key technologies to ensure the system's ultra-high performance, high availability and scalability for high-throughput, low-latency online transaction processing (OLTP) applications. Compatible with MySQL protocol, AISWare MDB can reuse MySQL peripheral monitoring, client, data migration and other tools, with a mature ecosystem and low learning cost. It provides rich development language support for application developers, including C, C++, Java, Python, etc., making development easier. Besides, it offers abundant debugging tools and command lines for database operation and maintenance personnel, which is convenient for operation and maintenance.

With a high availability of over 99.99%, AISWare MDB is highly fault tolerant and self-healing, allowing N data copies to be replicated serially across the machine rooms, with instance failover typically taking no more than 10 seconds. In addition to meeting the data access requirements of operators, AISWare MDB can also be applied to a variety of industries, such as e-commerce, games, finance, traditional SMEs and Internet industry. Besides, AsiaInfo also provides expert services to help customers install and use AISWare MDB more efficiently and smoothly.
