A national standard related to basic software is currently seeking opinions from the whole society.

Recently, the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee (referred to as the NITS) has issued a notice seeking opinions on the national standard for “Technical Requirements for Application Server Middleware”, which is to ensure that the standard remains up-to-date with the latest IT technology and can continue to meet the evolving demands of the market. This standard was jointly written by well-known enterprises such as AsiaInfo, Alibaba Cloud, CEC, TongTech, and Primeton, under the leadership of the China Electronics Standardization Institute.

It is of great significance to promote the development of domestic middleware towards “better, more stable, and safer”!

“Middleware” is considered one of the three fundamental software that facilitate the connection between different parts and applications of IT systems, allowing them to share computing resources and information, realizing efficient operation. Due to its complex functions and high technical barriers, it is primarily utilized by government and enterprise units with large-scale IT systems and high stability requirements. In the past, a limited number of companies, such as IBM and Oracle, dominated the global market for middleware products.

However, due to the rapidly changing local market and the volatile international environment, there is now a growing demand for middleware products that are more adaptable and secure. The national standard, “Technical Requirements for Application Server Middleware”, has emerged at an opportune moment to address this need, which comprehensively covers various aspects of middleware, including technical architecture, basic services, containers, application support, management services, product performance, ease of use, and maintainability. This guidance complies with “market-oriented, service-oriented, technologically advanced, scientific, and practical principles” and is helpful in the development, deployment, testing and other processes of application server middleware. It is important for the growth of China's middleware industry.
