“It turns out that the 5G private network is so effective!” After inspecting the construction of 5G private network on the fan platform, the person in charge of South China CGNPC New Energy was full of praise. 

Recently, Guangning Guangbei Wind Farm of South China CGNPC New Energy held an acceptance meeting for the 5G private network, marking the completion of the first domestic wind farm with qualified electric power security, complementary isolation grouping of public and private networks and full coverage of 5G private network in 700MHz band. Relevant leaders of South China CGNPC New Energy, CAICT, China Broadcast Network and AsiaInfo attended the acceptance ceremony.

In this project, South China CGNPC New Energy insisted on implementing the work arrangement with the purpose of green, diversity and coordination, and striving for safety first, quality first and excellence. AsiaInfo joined hands with China Broadcast Network to provide 5G wireless communication system for CGNPC Guangning Guangbei Wind Farm, completed the deployment and coverage of 5G wireless network in the whole range of the wind farm, and provided 24-hour uninterrupted communication, data transmission and other business bearings, at the same time, supporting the 5G private network to provide outsiders operation management and other application tools to help CGNPC wind farm make good use of natural energy. 

CGNPC New Energy Guangning Guangbei Wind Farm is located in Guangning, Zhaoqing, Guangdong, which has the reputation of “Bamboo Town”. It is an environmentally friendly power generation enterprise affiliated to South China CGNPC New Energy, with an annual on-grid power generation of about 100 million kWh, which saves 29,300 tons of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 73,900 tons per year. The wind farm is located in the complex mountain terrain, and the means of emergency communication between the wind turbine platform and the road is limited due to the unfavorable meteorological conditions. 

The successful landing of this project has created a number of domestic “firsts”. 

First Collaboration. The successful application of the 5G private network of CGNPC New Energy Guangning Guangbei Wind Farm is a typical case of 5G ecological construction coordinated by industry customers, product solution providers and communication operators, marking the successful implementation of the joint promotion of industry customized products and standard solutions and a big successful step forward in the construction standards of 5G private network in wind power industry and the  wind power operation and maintenance of “network, big data and AI”.

First Verification. AsiaInfo has independently developed the first domestic 700MHz integrated base station adapted to the wind power industry, which meets the requirements of power security, and successfully verified that the 700MHz band of China Broadcast Network is the low frequency band with low transmission loss and the strongest coverage capacity of mobile communications. The successful application of this product shows that South China CGNPC New Energy has the courage to make decisions, plan and lay out new energy science and technology innovation in the long term, and try first in the application practice of wind power digital intelligence.

First Application. Driven by innovation, South China CGNPC New Energy takes multiple measures to improve the equipment operation level, and adopts the 5GC power private network core network self-developed by AsiaInfo. This product integrates edge computing power capability, AI network self-operation and maintenance capability, business security diversion capability and network opening capability, with the characteristics of software and hardware decoupling, full-cloud deployment and elastic expansion, and provides a basic network for various 5G intelligent applications such as UAV inspection, tower climbing robot, vibration monitoring, blade crack analysis and lightning stroke early warning, realizing the digitalization and intelligence of field production and operation management. 

First Exploration. In order to ensure the healthy operation of equipment and comprehensively improve the utilization hours of power generation, South China CGNPC New Energy, together with China Broadcast Network and AsiaInfo, takes the lead in trying to match the 5G private network of wind power with edge data acquisition, operation and inspection process control, operation safety management and remote diagnosis and troubleshooting to provide a professional network management platform, and provide 7*24 customer service response SLA support system to ensure the stable operation of the network, and takes the lead in exploring the feasible path of 5G in the field of wind power industrial control. 

In the future, the three parties will continue to improve smart energy solutions, and promote the digital and intelligent transformation of energy enterprises with the technology of “network, data and intelligence”, so that more energy-using units and individuals can enjoy low-carbon, efficient and digital intelligence energy services.
