In the 1980s and 1990s, China's software industry underwent a period of rapid growth, with the establishment of numerous prominent software enterprises, which marked the beginning of a long-term journey for China's software industry. In 1993, Tian Suning and others founded “AsiaInfo” in Texas, the United States, creating China's first commercialized Internet backbone network, ChinaNet, as well as multiple national backbone network construction projects, fulfilling the aspiration of “bringing the Internet back to the motherland”. In the following years, they broke international monopolies through independent research and development, paving the way for the localization of “carrier-grade” business support software for China's communication operators.
After 31 years of development, AsiaInfo has grown into a pioneering provider of software products, solutions, and services, with its businesses covering industries such as communications, government affairs, energy sources, transportation, finance, postal services, and healthcare. It provides full-stack services of digital intelligence to government and enterprise customers, such as consulting services, product R&D, product delivery, system integration, intelligent decision-making, data operation. It can be said that the 31 years of AsiaInfo's steady progress have been inextricably linked with the development of China's software industry.
Today, AsiaInfo is pursuing a strategy of “Four Transformations” in its development, including transforming towards “dual leading position of products and services”, “simultaneous development of software and hardware”, “joint expansion into both communication and non-communication industries”, and “equal emphasis on domestic and international markets”. The company is exploring the next exciting 30 years.
Tian Suning, co-founder and chairman of AsiaInfo, stated that the more volatile the environment is and the faster the technology evolves, the more enterprises should move forward solidly. Now we are experiencing a period of unprecedented change that presents a multitude of opportunities. In order to thrive in this environment, enterprises must cultivate themselves to become “good species” in the “winter”.
