On July 16th, the award ceremony of “Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award”, the highest award of China’s intelligent science and technology, was held in Beijing. Zhang Yuzhuo, Secretary of the Party Group of the China Association for Science and Technology, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhao Bing, deputy director of Counselor’s Office of the State Council and member of the Party Group, Wu Manqing, Deputy Director of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Dai Qionghai, counselor of the State Council, chairman of the Chinese Academy of Artificial Intelligence, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered speeches respectively, sharing the development process of China’s intelligent science, and encouraging the younger generation scholars to not be afraid of difficulties and achieve scientific and technological self-improvement.

The “5G Network Intelligent System R&D and Industrial Scale Application” jointly developed by AsiaInfo and Institute for AI Industry Research, Tsinghua University (AIR) won the “Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award”, and AsiaInfo became the only award-winning unit in the communications industry. Dr. Ouyang Ye, CTO and Senior Vice President of AsiaInfo, accepted the award on behalf of the team.

The “Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award” is the highest award in China’s intelligent science and technology. It aims to recognize scientific and technological workers and managers who have made major breakthroughs and outstanding contributions in this field, and help promote the innovation and development of China’s intelligent science and technology. The final list of winners was selected by a jury including more than 20 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering after several rounds of rigorous evaluation. “5G Network Intelligent System R&D and Industrial Scale Application” is based on the actual needs of China’s 5G development, and based on its own product research and development and practical experience, AsiaInfo and Institute for AI Industry Research, Tsinghua University (AIR) jointly completed the cutting-edge application technology exploration. In 2021, the achievement has passed the national scientific and technological achievement appraisal, and the overall technology has reached the domestic leading and international advanced level.

AsiaInfo and Institute for AI Industry Research, Tsinghua University (AIR) have established a 5G Intelligence Joint Laboratory, which is committed to building a national-level communication artificial intelligence research and innovation institution, leading the establishment of 5G+AI international technical standards, and producing internationally advanced and domestically leading academic and innovative achievements. The laboratory has achieved technological leadership in the fields of 5G network intelligence, edge intelligence, reinforcement learning, and federated learning. This award-winning project is an important achievement of the joint laboratory.
